    Therman

I know many of us, myself included, have been wondering and worried about Therman since he's been out of game.

I'm very sorry to share that Therman passed away on Saturday 4/12 after a battle with cancer. Information is fairly limited - if I find out more on a service or a place where guild members can go to share condolences with the family, I will update here.

I would be grateful if people could share their favorite memories of Therman. I'll start with one of mine - watching him solo the TBL mission (Strange Magic?) to get so many people their lamp portal click item. What a legend! I will miss him dearly.

Watching Therman solo Fight Fire and Strange Magic over and over again is the reason I made a shaman. He made it look way easier than it was though. Grouping with him was always an opportunity to learn something - provided you didn't break his root too often he was pretty patient

I remember doing the 2 group Talendor mission with him and a bunch of alts, my SK as the main tank. We trudged through the whole event to Talendor's final spot and...well...I was lost and didn't get there to engage Talendor before the event reset. I wish it had gone more like this:

The firelight flickered low outside the entrance to Veeshan's Peak, casting long shadows over the gathering of greenhorns huddled around a makeshift camp. Their armor was mismatched, dented, or in most cases, nonexistent. Weapons looked like they’d been borrowed from the kitchens of Qeynos. Spirits were high though—eager, if oblivious.

Through the shimmering heat vapors near the edge of camp, a cloaked figure approached. The heavy scent of incense, sage, and bear grease accompanied him. His staff, etched with runes and dangling fetishes, tapped gently against the cracked earth.

    He cleared his throat.

“Does anyone need a hand with anything?”

A battered looking Erudite Shadow Knight, eyes wide under his soot-covered visor, raised his hand. “We could use your help, friend.”

Therman’s eyes twinkled under the hood. “Good,” he said. “Because we’ve got a dragon to kill.”

They were barely past the entrance in Veeshan's Peak when chaos struck.

A wyvern swooped from the skies, shrieking, scattering the group like terrified geese. Therman sighed, raised his paw-wrapped hand, and summoned a burst of wind and spirit energy that shoved the creature mid-air into a cliffside. It plummeted like a sack of bricks.

“Regroup!” he barked. “No one's dying until after Talendor.”

The youngest of them, a Gnomish rogue named Meflo, peeked from behind a boulder. “You… you can do that again, right?”

Therman muttered, “Not for another ten minutes,” under his breath.

Over the next few hours, the ragtag band took shape. Therman coached them with the patience of a Brell-touched saint. He healed scraped knees, rezzed the same bard four times, and taught the enchanter the difference between “mez” and “panic AOE stun.”

By the time they reached the lava-scarred plateau where Talendor circled, wings like molten iron beating the sky, something had shifted.

They were still ungeared. Still clumsy. But they weren’t afraid anymore.

Therman stood at the front of the line, his totem glowing, face calm.

“Alright,” he said. “Remember what we talked about. Wizards, burn slow. Cleric, watch the tank—not the fireworks. Meflo, don’t touch anything until I say so.”

    “Got it!” Meflo chirped.

    The dragon descended.

    The world became fire.

It was chaos. Arrows shattered against Talendor’s scales. Flames engulfed half the field. The tank was down. Then the backup tank was down. Meflo did touch something.

But then Therman stepped forward, arms raised, and called on the Spirit of the Earth Mother.

Roots erupted from the ground, wrapping around Talendor’s limbs. Spirits howled into the air, shielding the survivors. The young ones stood again, rallied, and fought back.

They didn’t win in the traditional sense. Not everyone survived. They didn’t get the best loot. But when Talendor fell with a thunderous crash, the mountain echoing with its final roar, they stood tall.

    Grimy. Battered. Glowing.

    RIP Therman

Therman was a great guy, he'll be sorely missed. I hope his final months were spent doing things he wanted to do. Cancer sucks.

Therman helped us with that clicky. I can't even think of what to say other than I'm so sorry and prayers to Therman's family/friends.

Therman was always willing to help anyone if they needed it. He helped me numerous times. Watching him solo that mission inspired me to push myself to see what I can accomplish on my own, including doing that mission. He will be sorely missed.

Therman was a special person. Every time he logged in, he would always ask if anyone needed help with anything. If you asked him, he would put others needs before his own. He was great mentor in a very humble way. He never tried to tell anyone how to play their class but rather led by example and offer suggestions. He will defiantly be missed. May he rest in peace.

My favourite memory of Therman is the thing he always did, log on and instantly asked if someone need help with anything. It didn't matter what it was. Some mundane epic camp, some random quest, if it was important to you - it was important to him.

I'm so sad to hear that he has passed, but hope that those around him knew him in life much like we knew him in Norrath.

I will always remember him saying “Does anyone need a hand with anything?” seeing that made me not afraid to ask for help... And even if someone messed up and kill us all Therman would Exhale and we would rez and get right back in there he always was want to help and teach people... I will miss him.

As others have said the one thing I can always remember is his own version of Hello, "Does anyone need help with anything?"

He helped me get the Jinn Mask on Kordeen, and the TBL Lamp on I forget how many chars. I thought it was amazing to watch him do that mission. He said I could go in and then explained exactly what to expect. He did not tell me what I could or could not do but explained what would happen if I did not follow his directions.
