Killing the Tabs in Chat

Attached are 2 files that you need to return the chat windows to the pre-tab style.

NOTE - You CANNOT use /tell windows with this mod, just have them come to a specific chat window.

IF you ARE using a custom UI then you just need to drop these two files into that folder and reload your UI.

IF you are NOT using a custom UI already and/or don't know what this is all about, this is what you need to do:


1) Find the location of you EQ files. This should be familiar from setting up GINA. It will be something like:

2) There will be a folder called "uifiles" and a subfolder "default". So like this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Daybreak Games\Everquest\uifiles\default

This is where the default UI files reside. You could drop these files there, but they will be overwritten the next time EQ checks the files, which is likely the next time you start the game. So we need to put them in a new place. Create a folder in the uifiles directory something like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Daybreak Games\Everquest\uifiles\notabchat

---

And unzip the attached files and drop them there.

Then in game type "/loadskin notabchat" (or whatever you called that new folder). When the UI comes back up, your tabs should be gone.

Congratulations, you now have a custom UI. EQ will automatically look for any files it needs that aren't found in your custom UI in the default UI folder so you only need to have the files you change in your custom UI. My recommendation is unless you are comfortable hacking XML is to use the fewest new files you can get away with for your needs. This reduces the chance that any given Daybreak UI change will break your UI.

If for some reason that didn't work or something horrible happened. type "/loadskin default" to get back to square 1.
